GIRDWOOD, AK – October 16, 2007

Alyeska has opened the mountain for hiking as snowmaking has been completed from the bottom of the mountain to the top of the tram. Alyeska Resort would like to thank everyone for their patience this summer. Our mountain crew has been working long hours throughout the summer to improve your summer and winter mountain experience.

This summer Alyeska embarked on a full-mountain renovation project that included snowmaking extensions added from the bottom of the mountain to the top of the tram. Alyeska will now have 31 snow guns distributing snow where and when it is needed. We plan on operating the mountain from the top of the Tram on opening day, November 17. Trail grading and widening on Jim’s Branch, Weir, Mighty Mite, and Spoonline have also been completed. Work on the Autobahn will allow snowmaking along the bottom of North Face. The combination of cutting back the vegetation and having snowmaking along the Autobahn will provide a better North Face skier experience deep into the spring. The work this summer will not only enhance our winter product, but will greatly improve summer recreational opportunities at Alyeska. Possible future summer enhancements include new hiking trails, advanced to beginner mountain bike terrain, zip lines and a mountain coaster. […Read More]

Are you a full-time student with season passes to 2 world-class mountains? If not, then listen up!

Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah offers a “study abroad” program for all of you college students not getting your fill of snow. The 2008 program begins on January 7th and concludes on May 2nd, so sign up soon.

You will be able to rack up 12-16 transferable credits while getting in up to 70 or more days on the slopes. No Friday classes means more snow time.

Best of all, you get a season pass to The Canyons AND either Alta or Snowbird! It doesn’t get much better than that.

The program also offers ecursions, backcountry trips and education, avalanche training, a guest lecture series, internship opportunities, equipment deals, etc.

The Euro is near an all-time high against the U.S. Dollar, so why not put that study abroad in Europe idea on hold and stay in the U.S. where you will get more bang for the buck.

PARK CITY, UTAH – This season The Canyons Resort is happy to host the luxe SnoDaisy Snowboarding camps for women only. The camps were created by SnoDaisy founder Jennifer Davidson and are geared towards women who want to combine luxury travel and snowboarding at the largest resort in Utah, The Canyons.

“We are thrilled to be the resort of choice for SnoDaisy camps,” said The Canyons spokesperson Libby Dowd. “The quick access from the Salt Lake City Airport, our lodging options and the huge amount of terrain on the mountain make The Canyons the ideal spot to get away for a long weekend trip and the SnoDaisy staff runs a superb program.”

There will be six four-day camps throughout the winter with lodging at the four-star Grand Summit Hotel located just steps away from the Flight of The Canyons gondola. Snowboarding divas will be able to ride the legendary Utah powder and relax with spa treatments at the Grand Summit Spa or fine dining at The Cabin Restaurant.

“SnoDaisy is stoked to be working with The Canyons. We’ve ridden there for years and always had a fabulous time—it’s the best of what people love about Utah. The endless terrain offers something for every level of rider, and the lodging and amenities are second to none,” comments Jen Davidson.

SnoDaisy divas need only show up, ready to have fun. Included in the package: snowboard, boots, bindings, custom fittings, guided mountain tours, spa treatment, après ride activities, lodging, airport transportation, all meals and afternoon snacks, schwag bag of snowboard essentials, and plenty of powder-filled memories.
